Buy a barcode scanner without needing two
The scanner is rarely the largest cost. What surrounds it — the connection to your system, the charging cradle, the labels and the replacement in three years — decides whether the purchase works out.
Five things to know before ordering
Together they can be answered in a short conversation, and they prevent the order you redo a month later.
- Which codes you have to readBarcodes only, or QR and DataMatrix as well, and do they ever come from a screen. As soon as the answer is "maybe later", buy a 2D scanner; the price difference is small and the replacement is not.
- What it attaches toPoint of sale, WMS, ERP or a web application. The connection decides whether it works straight away. We configure it for your system and test that before it ships.
- How hard a life it getsScans per shift, drop height, dust and moisture. An office scanner in a warehouse needs replacing within a year; an industrial scanner at a counter is wasted money.
- What else is neededStand, charging cradle, cable, and with cordless also spare batteries. This is the item most often missing from a self-placed order, and the reason equipment sits unused.
- Who replaces it when it breaksWarranty handling, a spare device and someone who knows which serial number sits where. With one scanner that is manageable; with twenty it is the reason to put it with one party.
What gets ordered most
The versions most requests end up with, plus when renting makes more sense.
Corded 2D handheld scanner
The safest choice at a fixed workplace: reads everything, never runs flat, and needs nothing beyond a cable.
Cordless 2D handheld scanner
With a base station, for workplaces where people move. Budget for a cradle per workplace and not per department.
Industrial scanner
For warehouse, workshop and outdoors. Higher drop height and dust rating; buy it on the conditions and not on the number of scans.
Renting for a peak or a project
For a season, a stock-take or a move, renting is calmer: you get configured equipment for the period you need it, and it goes away afterwards.
How you buy it from us
The same device can be ordered anywhere. What comes with it differs, and that is where the money and the time sit.
- Buy or rentFor equipment that lasts years, buying is usually better value; with fluctuating numbers or a season, renting is calmer. The same equipment either way — the choice is about your situation and not about the product.
- Delivered ready to useConfigured, registered in management and tested before it ships. At larger volumes sorted per site or per user and delivered straight to the address.
- Warranty and replacement handledWe handle the warranty instead of sending you to a service number, and we track which serial number sits where and when cover ends. Where downtime costs money directly, we supply pre-configured spares.
- The old equipment goes back with usCollected, wiped to the standard and disposed of with certification, and you get the certificate. That belongs to the lifecycle and not to a separate job afterwards.
Lead time depends on the model and on the manufacturer. We quote the term the manufacturer gives and report it the moment it shifts, rather than naming a date that sounds good. Call +31 85 060 9347 or email info@itproposal.com.

Questions we get about this
The ones that come up most, answered briefly.
What else do I need besides the scanner?
A stand, a cable or a charging cradle, and with cordless also spare batteries. This is the item most often missing from a self-placed order, and the reason equipment sits unused.
Buy or rent?
Buying is usually better value for equipment that stays in the same place for years. For a season, a stock-take or a move, renting is calmer: configured equipment for the period you need it, and then it goes away again.
Tell us what you need, we work it out
Quantity, use and where it has to go. The model follows from that, and the quote follows from the model — with the lead time the manufacturer is giving at that moment.
