A warehouse scanner is only ready when the network is
Most problems with scanning in a warehouse are not scanner problems. They are wifi problems, battery problems or integration problems — and you do not solve those by ordering a different model.
Four causes of a warehouse that will not scan
All four come back as "the scanner is not working", and in none of the four is the scanner at fault.
- Coverage stops between the racksFull racking, metal and freezer cells absorb the signal. A coverage plan from a drawing tool says nothing here; only an on-site measurement with the racks filled says anything.
- The connection drops while walkingAnyone walking between two access points loses their session if the network is not set up for it. The scanner then shows an error that has nothing to do with scanning.
- The battery does not last the shiftA device that is flat at three o’clock is a device that does not get used. Spare batteries and charging stations on the floor belong in the order, not in the next one.
- The integration was made by handA scanner typing into a screen as a keyboard works until the screen changes. A real integration with the WMS is more work up front and the only one that keeps working.

Labelling where the item is. It belongs in the same order as the scanners, otherwise it gets bought later anyway.
