What Cherry makes
Cherry makes keyboards, including models with a built-in card reader for signing in with a badge. In healthcare you see the washable versions that take disinfection, and in the office the mechanical switches whose Cherry MX name is so well known that other brands cite it.
Why Cherry, and where it stops
Cherry is the choice where signing in with a badge has to happen at the desk or where the keyboard must be cleanable. Where it stops: a card reader in the keyboard needs matching setup on the server side. Without that it is an ordinary keyboard with a slot in it.
